Sr Lanka Junglefowl (Gallus lafeyettii) Male and female - In the recently harvested paddy fields at Ulagalla Escapes, Tirappane. The male looks like a real rooster, while the female looks more like an oversized quail.
Peafowl (Pavo cristatus) Peacock - Choosing a tree to roost in for the night. Although they roost in trees, Peafowl build their nests on the ground. To protect their eggs, they will kill any snake they come across in their territory.
Lesser Whistling-duck (Dendrocygna javanica) - Found by the edges of tanks and freshwater wetlands. A sociable, yet shy bird. Able to dive. (1)

Sri Lanka Junglefowl (Gallus lafeyettii) Female - The Junglefowl is usually wary of people and runs away, but in some of the National Parks, where they are safer, they are less scared. Which is why this female in Wilpattu National Park walked right by us, at a rest-stop in the middle of the park.

Lesser Whistling-duck (Dendrocygna javanica) - These Whistling-ducks appear completely unaware, or unafraid, of the nearby crocodile. When they take to the air they whistle as they climb.
